Youth Ministry: Youth are active - in worship, in action, in being together! A variety of programs and options!
1) Youth at First - meeting with their minister - at worship and for some special activities. Assisting in worship with reading, ushering, drama and song.
2) Youth Choir - singing together - serving the congregation - monthly. Choir practise at 3:30 PM on Fridays. with Ashley McCannell
3) Youth Outreach Program (Youth of Promise) meets Wednesday afternoons at 3 PM, with Charlene Classon. Leads worship several times a year. Special events - sleep overs, camping, and more.
4) First United "Me to We" youth taking action! in the community and the world! with Susan Jivung Hunter. www.freethechildren.com

Remember and Rite:
Do you like to write? This group meets every couple of weeks to write and share stories from their earlier memories
and thoughts of their life’s experiences, creating a wonderful legacy for their children and grandchildren.
New members are always welcome!

Children at Sunday Worship:
Children and youth are encouraged to attend worship with their family and friends. Following discussion with minister or worship leader, children are invited downstairs to enjoy a focused worship and education program.
In addition, a playroom is equipped with toys, books, and climbing apparatus which is open to all toddlers . Everyone is welcome!
In the sanctuary, at the back, there is a “quiet” room for parents with infants or toddlers. This is a place to be while continuing to be part of the worship service through the glass windows.
Godly Play:
Most Sundays, the children will be involved in Godly Play, a multi-sensory approach to storytelling and worship. Creative responses involving claywork, paints and craft materials, are encouraged.
“Godly Play teaches children the art of using religious language - parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action - helping them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.”
Leader: Jaime-Lyn Hugh, an elementary scholl teacher and member of the congregation. Other volunteer parents and some teenagers assist in the program.
Scouts & Cubs First United Church is a proud sponsor of the Scouts: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Church Library
Our Church Library is located upstairs in the Dogwood Room and includes books for children and young adults; adult fiction and non-fiction works; reference books, as well as CD’s and DVD’s. This growing collection of contemporary, “forward-thinking” books is open to anyone who loves to explore and question, learn and READ!
